As an ambassador, your role is to be the ultimate guide and inspire all guests of the museum. Major duties include facilitating guest flow, assisting guests with their photo ops, understanding all aspects of WNDR museum and its exhibits/concepts. You’ll be great for this role if you can adapt and multitask in an ever-evolving environment, love art + technology, are a team player, enjoy wearing many professional hats, and are available to commit to a minimum of 3-4 shifts/week with open weekend availability.

 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS – The major functions and responsibilities of this position include:

  • Greeting guests upon entry.
  • Scanning tickets.
  • Assisting with wayfinding.
  • Engaging with guests.
  • Be able to speak confidently and accurately to all aspects of WNDR museum and its exhibits, concepts, and ideas.
  • Managing the flow of guests between installations.
  • Being a human selfie stick, helping our guests capture social media-worthy photos.
  • Working in our retail space.
  • Representing the museum with character and integrity.
  • Keeping our space clean, organized and orderly.
  • Build a culture of both creative and operational excellence.

Buckle up! As WNDR scales its Chicago-based art + tech experience across the US, we are seeking a Creative Developer/Immersive Technologist for WNDR Studios.

 

About the Role

 

The Creative Developer/Immersive Technologist will develop and implement immersive multimedia form factors for WNDR locations. The candidate will be a part of the WNDR Studios team, helping to create tech concepts (and narratives) for multimedia rooms, bringing them to realization through collaboration with in-house and freelance technical partners.

 

WNDR exhibits are highly interactive and tech driven interactive environments. We utilize software (TouchDesigner, Resolume, etc.), projection and LED mapping, custom microcontrollers, sensors, and motion tracking.

 

Post-integration of projects, the Creative Developer/Immersive Technologist will help streamline long-term maintenance strategies that ensure the longevity and stability of active exhibits across WNDR.

WNDR Studios is a collective of interdisciplinary makers, designers, engineers, curators, and more. It serves as the museum’s in-house creative arm, and is laser-focused on the ideation and creation of immersive art experiences that combine fine art, design, technology & engineering, fabrication, digital animation & projection, performance art, and more.

 

Desired Skills and Experience, and Expectations related to Role:

  • Flexible working schedule (vs. 9-to-5), including on-site presence for occasions of special events, installations, location launches, and other related activities
  • Self-starter, who hunts down root causes of issues and solves them
  • Ability to work in a high-growth, fast-paced, team-oriented environment
  • Ability to organize, direct, and manage projects, work independently, and demonstrate good judgment.
  • Aid in researching, designing, and planning system architecture of large-scale interactive installation

 

Technical Skills:

  • Expert-level TouchDesigner programming skills, including extensions, packaging, and collaboration
  • Collaborate closely with designers and frontend software engineers to integrate frontend technologies (Web Apps, OpenFrameworks, Processing, Resolume, TouchDesigner, Unreal, Unity, Native Apps) with backend systems
  • Develop and sustain infrastructures such as cloud servers, web apps, and site-specific interactive installations
  • Experience with motion tracking technologies like LIDAR, Kinect, and Zedd
  • Experience with microcontrollers like Arduino, Raspberry Pi and Teensy
  • Proficient in projection and LED mapping
  • Familiarity with dynamic lighting, multi-channel audio systems, supervisory control systems and other commercial AV hardware, and how they connect together
  • (Python, C++, Unreal Engine, Unity or JavaScript experience a plus)

About the Role
WNDR is seeking a General Manager who will be responsible for the planning, launching, opening, and managing of WNDR S. This person will lead the overall Boston business operation as well as the pre-opening deliverables needed to prepare WNDR Boston for a successful launch.

 

As the Founding General Manager, you are a team leader, problem-solver, and innovator who is curious and thrives in an entrepreneurial environment. You are passionate about customer service and delivering exceptional experiences to WNDR guests. You are a role model for the floor staff. You bring the highest levels of quality, creativity, integrity and joy to the workspace.

 

Pre-Opening Responsibilities:

  • Lead the Boston business operation and pre-opening initiatives from start to finish
  • Oversee the recruiting, hiring, onboarding, training, and development processes for employees
  • Prepare staff training manuals, policies and procedures documents, and employee handbook items
  • Work closely with leadership to coordinate and oversee on-site meetings and installation of projects
  • Clear communication with the WNDR team to understand project goals and ensure they are being met on time, on budget, and to the quality standard
  • Develop strategies and initiatives that fulfill WNDR’s mission, increase customer base, and ensure financial stability and growth
  • Partner with WNDR Global to generate unprecedented pre-opening buzz in the market

 

Post-Opening Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for the overall business strategy in Boston
  • Manage employees and ensure c ompliance with workplace standards, laws, and safety regulations
  • Maintain “open door” policy for employees to communicate concerns and the resolution of complaints and conflicts
  • Inspire and motivate the team to achieve operational excellence
  • Develop strategies and processes to monitor costs and maximize revenue
  • Review sales goals and strategies to ensure alignment with positioning and pricing
  • Prepare and present weekly, monthly, annual reports
  • Oversee strategic and tactical enhancements of the guest experience
  • Monitor venue with high standard for cleanliness, safety, and appearance
  • Identify service and guest experience enhancements initiatives through business judgment and analytical findings
  • Implement established policies on pricing, ticket sales, and merchandise sales
  • Oversee activity related to WNDR artworks including routine maintenance, condition reports, and installation
  • Ability to learn and relay information about the exhibits and galleries within WNDR to the appropriate department at Headquarters
  • Help facilitate on-site programming, group visits, and partnership opportunities
  • Hit target metrics and drive success
