SACRED is a 501(c)(3) not-for-profit and a 1% for the Planet Nonprofit Partner that helps improve lives in the rural Mexican communities where heritage agave spirits are made. Since our founding in 2017, we have distributed more than 70,000 agave seedlings to the mezcalerxs in Oaxaca who, as a result of the mezcal boom, are finding it hard to access agave. We’ve funded water projects that have helped mitigate water insecurity in three communities in Oaxaca; greenhouses and nurseries in four communities to help protect the bio-diversity that is at-risk as a result of the Tequila boom, and have built an adobe library focused on regenerative agriculture, among other projects.
